MY WORK
About Me, My Work and My Campaigns

About
As the eldest son in an entrepreneurial, family business setting, I was mentored by my father and inherited his old world style work ethic and integrity. I count myself as fortunate indeed to have been introduced to the many lessons and opportunities over the years being raised under the protective umbrella of the family business. I was encouraged to learn and experiment and later empowered to implement as I grew older. Being in a consumer goods manufacturing and distribution business exposed me to the hands-on mechanics of production and to all facets of marketing and sales and business processes .

Even as a young boy, my father saw to it that I followed with him to experience the building of the business. From sales pitches to business meetings and union labor negotiations to ICC hearings. From radio studios and broadcast interviews to publicity events. From trade shows to trade organization gatherings. We toured facilities across the country and entertained prominent business guests from industry leading organizations when they came to visit. He would also make sure that I worked at every position from janitor to manager along the way.

At age 17, I was designing packaging for the expanding line of retail and institutional products. Following my return from college, I re-engineered the production facility with equipment I designed and had custom built to spec. I worked with designers and builders on the expansion of production facilities. By my mid-20's I had helped to expand the distribution of our products throughout the western US and had negotiated national private label programs. I appeared in television commercials, radio interviews, made trade association addresses and organized public events.

Out of a desire to expand my knowledge, I left the family business in '78 to get in on Colorado's booming commercial construction industry. I was soon a certified as an estimator and working with architects, engineers, developers, vendors and subcontractors on projects ranging from country clubs and hospitality projects, broadcast facilities, mid and high-rise buildings and even high elevation projects (read). Building on new skill sets and accomplishments, I quickly worked my way up to General Manager and reassumed the marketing role along with new operations and P&L responsibilities in construction management. Regrettably, both the economy and industry would experience a severe downturn in the early '80s and many businesses were forced to close.

In late '82, I would return to the family business and resume building again on the foundation of my prior accomplishments. Then, in 1984, I assisted my younger brother in the purchase of the business and facilitating our father's early retirement. Following a transition period, I would choose to pursue new endeavors and relocated to California in 1985. The family business still runs smoothly to this very day.

Fast-forward to 2008 and Irvine, California.
