THE UNIVERSAL MARKETER
- Beyond The Tchotchkes -

In this latest installment of the series, the Universal Marketer (played by Jay Piz, who claims no parallel to Jean-Claude Van Damme's Universal Soldier) receives a communiqué from his superior to return to action and confront the toughest competitors ever including the dominant first-mover from Europe. At stake is the company's brand and a sales pipeline worth over one billion dollars at the center of a $250 million deal. But support will be minimal. The tools authorized for combat would be his superior's reliance on Tchotchkes (choch-keys - jargon for knickknacks and freebie bauble giveaways at trade shows) and other unimaginative means to compete. The Universal Marketer would be left to his own wit - and grit.

Expert in guerilla marketing, veteran of B2B software wars, survivor of countless skirmishes across industry borders as a "consultant," the no-fear, no-sweat, trench-hardened Piz knew he must once again call on his skills in applying the universal principles of marketing in virtually any context. While not running through alleys in Los Angeles or dodging missiles or parachuting from a skyscraper, Piz isn't willing to slow down the momentum for a moment. Recognizing that supporting performances are a major asset, he assembles his team. They knew he could be counted on to hang tougher than anyone else.

Breaking through the high-falutin', unholy union of technobabble and corporate-speak, Piz analyzes the competitive landscape and swiftly devises an ambitious, cost-effective plan to realign the company's strategic and tactical goals to win customer satisfaction for ensuring the competitive edge. Setting out on a rogue mission the team maintains a breathless pace, complete with ticking deadline, leaving little room for error. Armed with flawless know-how, superior presentation skills and an extensive portfolio of new product marketing initiatives, compelling marketing materials and sales tools, revitalized web site navigation, content and opt-in programs, they move quickly and cost-effectively gaining strategic advantage as Piz leads his troops Beyond The Tchotchkes in penetrating the market, defending the brand, securing profitability and ultimate market dominance.

Piz pulls off the mission with panache. It is a success. It sets high standards, not only for himself, but for the rest of the missions that will surely follow.

This story is not meant to be believable, and it isn't. It has some ludicrous moments, but this is not a story that relies on dazzle, excitement, exotic locales or a drum-tight plot. It doesn’t have to. Underlying this story is real-life experience, a foundation of accomplishments and professional development in a business setting.

About Me.
My name is Jay Piz. I am an entrepreneurial marketing professional seeking an opportunity to make a positive impact on the success for a prosperous company. I offer a high level of creativity, strong communication skills, and a consistent record of high performance. I am mature, motivated, resistant to stress, flexible, and decisive. Accustomed to intense domestic and global competition, I possess tact, good judgment, and an exceptional ability to establish and maintain effective personal relationships with staff, cross-functional teams and client firms. Schooled through successes and hard-knocks, I routinely find and quantify challenges such as identifying unmet needs, facilitating the development of a solution and then creating an end-to-end, go-to-market plan that ensures success. At the end of the day I have the experience that proves simply, if it doesn't facilitate a sale then it's not marketing. And I can sell, too!

One of the few left with actual hands-on manufacturing through marketing experience, my skill sets were honed first in the trenches and then in the boardroom (before the advent of computers). I have designed and built production lines and plants and businesses. I have managed staff loads from 10 to over 250, directed national and international sales teams, reported to presidents and stakeholders on two continents, and worked solo, too. I have made a presence in print, on the Internet, radio, TV and in public engagements. And from services to consumer package goods to high-end software solutions and more, my experience in technical marketing and business processes has consistently delivered results, if not enlightenment, taking companies to new heights.

Today

Having set the pace via the creation and introduction of the first branding project for this company back in early 2002 to now reporting a pipeline of nearly $250million, after nearly two years in development I am presently preparing to launch the second brand project and new E-Enterprise business model forecast to produce first year revenue up to twenty million. While developing key strategies and tactical solutions for two brands and multiple web sites targeting business opportunities predominantly in North America and Europe, my functional roles also include directing global sales efforts and managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio of trademarks, patents and domains as well as liaison for legal teams on two continents.
